AUBURN — A Syracuse man has received prison time after being found with cocaine during a traffic stop in Auburn.
Paul B. Bovee, 37, was sentenced to five years in state prison followed by 1.5 years of post-release supervision for third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance by Judge Thomas Leone Thursday in Cayuga County Court. The defendant was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation in May, and police found more than an ounce of cocaine in his backpack.

The prison sentence will run consecutive to one Bovee is already serving. He pleaded guilty in December, reducing a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class B felony) to the Class C felony charge. His plea also satisfied charges of tampering with physical evidence (a Class E felony) and false personation (a Class B misdemeanor), and another count of third-degree possession.
