SKANEATELES 鈥 A little more than a mile from the village of Skaneateles sits a diner on Jordan Road.
Aside from its parking lot and awning, the blink-and-you'll-miss-it Willow Glen Diner blends in with the trees and foliage.
But for owners Tim and Stacy Atwater, the diner is a second home. They hope the community they serve feels that way as well.
鈥淪o many people have come in not knowing we were even here,鈥 Stacy told 人兽性交, 鈥渁nd some live in Skaneateles.鈥
The Atwaters bought the diner from Dick and Cindy Eldredge in 2019. Before that, it was Cams Diner & Deli. Tim said he ate there frequently, and the sale kept the place in the family 鈥 he and Dick are second cousins. At the time of the sale, Stacy was moving on from a previous job and Tim, who also serves as assistant chief of the Mottville Fire Company, was no longer at the Red Rooster Pub.

'A homey feeling'
There haven鈥檛 been too many changes at Willow Glen since the Atwaters took it over.
Friday night dinners became a thing of the past during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Stacy said their return is on the back burner. Despite their popularity, they would come with high costs.聽
鈥淧rices are astronomical,鈥 she said. 鈥淪ometimes it鈥檚 even difficult to do breakfast and lunch.鈥
Tim added, 鈥淓ggs are our main business. They are $5.30 a dozen.鈥
Sharing that sentiment are the diner's regulars, such as Bill Moss. He and his wife, Shirley, come on Mondays and Fridays.聽
鈥淵ou can go somewhere and spend $40 or $50 for breakfast,鈥 he told 人兽性交.聽
That's why the Atwaters take pride in keeping things simple and affordable.
For breakfast, they serve staples like eggs, bacon, toast and sausage gravy with biscuits. Stacy said the latter is one of their most popular items, along with Eggs benedict. Specials this week included a fretta (frittata) omelet with home fries and toast, or blueberry-topped French toast with a choice of meat. The lunch menu boasts a variety of sandwiches and soups, as well as more specials.
Asked why such items are a hit with customers, Stacy shrugged. Maybe comfort food just speaks for itself, she said.
Or maybe it's the ingredients the diner uses, like eggs from Hudson Egg Farms in Elbridge or pancake mix from New Hope Mills in Auburn.
But several customers told 人兽性交 it's not all about the food.聽Bob and Patti Chapman, who frequent Willow Glen for breakfast as many as five days a week, enjoy the atmosphere just as much.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a homey feeling," Bob said. "It鈥檚 a small business that really cares.鈥

Recipe for success
The diner鈥檚 interior isn鈥檛 afraid to welcome natural light. It pours onto the bar, tables and other fixtures.
Willow Glen's walls are decorated with a pots-and-pans border that Stacy wants to remove eventually.聽
Several dozen photographs of the Skaneateles area dating back decades are also on display, windows into the past that she does plan to keep.聽
The vintage look trickles into the vibe of the diner. The Atwaters said word-of-mouth has been crucial to its longevity.
鈥淵ou come in and see your friends,鈥 Bob said. 鈥淚n many ways, you come here and get the local news.鈥
Bill joked, 鈥淲e come in to harass the help."
The Mosses and Chapmans agreed that the Atwaters genuinely care about their customers, and are active in the community.
The diner's eight employees are a tight-knit group, they said, sharing playful banter with each other and customers.聽
鈥淚t鈥檚 small, but we get it done,鈥 Stacy said. 鈥淪ometimes it鈥檚 hectic, but it's worth it."
Tim continued, 鈥淲e want our customers to have a good meal for their money. I want people to come here, leave happy and then tell their friends."
