Apple Announces $500 Billion Investment In US Amid Tariff Threats

Apple has announced a $500 billion investment in the United States over the next four years, including plans to hire 20,000 workers and build a new server factory in Texas. The company’s move follows President Donald Trump’s recent statement that Apple CEO Tim Cook pledged to shift manufacturing from Mexico to the US to avoid tariffs. Trump has threatened tariffs that could increase the cost of iPhones made in China, prompting speculation about Apple’s decision. Apple’s investment includes the construction of a factory in Houston, set to open in 2026, to produce servers for Apple Intelligence, its AI-powered features. Apple’s latest commitment mirrors a similar 2018 announcement, during Trump’s first term, when it pledged $350 billion in US investments and 20,000 new jobs. In a blog post, Cook said Apple remains confident in American innovation and is proud to expand its domestic investments. The tech giant has historically navigated tariff threats by strengthening its US presence.
